Luigi D'Acunto

Volunteer since April 2003 · 23+ years · Arezzo Committee

I joined the Pioneer component in April 2003 in the Siena group. Over the years I moved through several committees — Siena, Grosseto, Arezzo — taking on increasingly senior roles: from Component Secretary to Group Commissioner, from Youth Trainer to National Civil Protection Instructor.

Today I am Territorial Technical Delegate for Training and IT Services Manager at the Arezzo Committee, as well as a member of the Regional Training Secretariat of the Tuscany Regional Committee. I combine my humanitarian volunteering experience with my IT skills, having voluntarily developed management systems now used across more than 400 Italian Red Cross branches.

IT Projects for the CRI

Italian Red Cross Digitisation

Volunteer-driven development — 400+ branches
January 2013 – 2015

Following the modernisation of the CRI's organisational structure, the initial digitisation project evolved into part of a broader system-wide initiative. Development of a web application for volunteering management covering personnel, materials, finance, statistics, and organisational development. The system reached over 400 Italian Red Cross branches, developed on a voluntary basis by a dozen contributors each working in their area of expertise: development, systems, ticketing, project coordination, and administration.

National training management
November 2011 – December 2012

Following an initial pilot, the project delivered a web application for registering and managing CRI training sessions across the national territory. A second phase introduced volunteer profiles linked to each person's qualifications and competencies, digitising individual records.
